Plans
I want students to see what future projects I have for the office! This includes my events and bylaw reforms.
Open Mic This event is meant to show the expression of students. Every student's voice is important year round, so why not have an event that allows them to have a platform to share their feelings. Not only would it allow students to showcase their talent, but it is also a great opportunity to hear the opinions of others and share their experiences with one another. By allowing an event such as this one to occur the Internal Office can hear the concerns of students easier and work to improve them. It should be noted that the event won't only focus on serious issues, other expressions are welcomed. That means that comedy, singing, and even story telling are just as welcomed as venting!

Housing fairThe purpose of a housing fair is to help students in the "real world". A lot of students move out of the dorms or choose to stop commuting yet have no idea how to look for a place to live. That is what the fair would do. It basically would invite as many apartment complex representatives around UCR and allow students to interact with them so that students could get an idea of what is needed to move into an apartment on their own. The fair is based on the notion that many UCR students struggle to find housing and when they do find it, they discover that they don't have the credit, need a co signer, or that they need to pay a direct deposit. Students of lower economic backgrounds and undocumented status are especially hurt by this.

Bylaw ReformsFor every office in ASUCR they must follow certain guidelines, I wish to edit some of those and emphasize others. An example is Section 4 Part E, where VPCIA is in charge of
investigating all complaints made by students, after they are presented to the ASUCR Student Senate, and report all findings. This is something that I noticed as a Senator really needs to be honed in on to ensure that the student body is being heard. Other parts of the bylaws needs some editing, on the reason that they are not explicit in what the VPCIA can do to help students. Editing these will ensure that my office and future offices continue to have the voice of the students in mind when making important decisions. See the bylaws |
